Thanks to all who came out and supported us on our last show for this Spring. We will be back in August and hope to see you all then!

In the meantime the band will be working diligently in the studio on new originals and new covers to tantilize your listening senses.

So how was the show? I thought you would never ask!

Fuze was great. They went on early and played their jazz, funk, metal like wild men. It was a great show. Thanks for coming out fella's and busting a groove as only Fuze can!

Ground Score was up around 11:20 or so. We started with an open Jam to get warmed up. After that we Jammed our hearts out, songs included Ether Sunday, Dictate the Mood, Antiginizing, Five 2 One, Sand, Piper, Rezin Tokes & Rolled Cigarettes, Myself, Psuedo Suicide, Carini, Roses, Beunos Tardes, Fuzzy, New Era, JWL, Manual, Sample in a Jar, and many more. Highlights included the debut of our newest song Sandcastles. The lead in jam for Manual from the break was also most excellent. Of course Beunos Tardes was the shit! The crowd reqeusted Lunch Lady Land was also very fun and the singing of Tim on Black JuJu was as always most excellent. The excellent improved transition from Sand into Piper (after jammin antiginising into 5 2 1 into sand no less) was off the hook!My compliments to all my fellow bandmates, you all had a chance to shine, and you shone brightly without hesitation!

Special thanks to all who came out and danced their asses off!!!!!! You are our muse, inspiration and energy! We also thank Steve and Dave for helping with the show. Thanks to Tim and Churchills for having us out again, and again, and again. Also thanks the Fuze for jamming with us, look forward to hooking up with you guys again!

Again the show seemed to be over before we were ready, but such is life. We want more, we hope we left you wanting more, and that being said, there will be more. Stay tuned via the website and myspace as the fall tour comes together and for any other special announcements we might have. Otherwise, have a safe summer and we cant wait to see you in August!

View From the Bassment - Monroe Street Fair

Another great day in Ann Arbor MI. The weather was chilly, the sun barely showed its face, and the wind was wippen. Fortunately, the rain stayed away. With all that said there was a great turn out for the Monroe Street Fair. This is the biggest show we have played to date (Yeah Tom you were right!)....

Ground Score played at 2:30. We did an hour long set of originals and covers. The set list included Rezin Tokes, Myself, Along the Way, Dictate the Mood, Psuedo Suicide, Manual, Carini, Piper, and Sample in a Jar. I personally had a great time. We had a group sing a long of Happy Birthday for Rob, Amy, and "Mary Jane". We all had smiles on our faces for most of the set and so did a majority of the crowd. Hope you all enjoyed your free CD's.

Thanks to Charlie and Steve for having us play the show. Thanks to the Ragbirds, Amy Heard, and Glowb for putting on such an awesome show. Thanks to Dave for helping load, unload, running the lights, and smiling about it. Thanks to Matt for handing out CD's but making sure the people were going to listen to them first. Thanks to everyone else who lent a hand when needed. Thanks to Ann Arbor for allowing this to happen. Thanks to Mike, Rob, Tom, and Grahm, I love being in a band with you guys! Finally and most of all thanks to all of you who came out, enjoyed the vibes, took a CD, and supported us on our biggest show to date.

Hope to see you on the 14th at Churchills when we open for the People. I definitely insist on seeing all of you on the 29th of April at Churchills in Flint (2 sets of Ground Score starting around 11, Pie in the Sky opening at 10). See the website for more details.

View from the Bassment - Churchill's with Smokestack

It was damp in dark in the bassment this weekend. There was light coming in thru a rectangular window towards the top of the foundation wall. The light beckened me to look out and see the world. When I stood on my tiptoes and peered thru the glass I saw a smokey bar full of people drinking, talking, laughing, and living.

Towards the back I could see people with insturments in their hands. I pushed my ear against the glass and heard very amusing sounds. The band played and the people smiled. I heard rock jams, space jams, covers and more. I pushed at the window and it opened. I crawled thru and found myself on the floor of the bar. I stood up and dusted myself off. I found that my legs were involuntarily bouncing. I found my arms gyrating and my head spinning round and round to the sounds. I was dancing! I soon found out that the bands name was Ground Score. They moved me.

Then Ground Score put down their insturments and another band took their place. This band was called Smokestack. Their musical notes tickled my ears, and made me have happy feet. They sent me into a sonic dream with their wonderful jams and beautiful energy.

Suddenly my calf felt a pinch

The window was calling me back to the dark, back to the wet, back to the bassment. As the lights faded out, I crawled back into my home. Now I stare at the window, waiting for the lights to come back on....

I know the will soon!

-Thanks to all who came to the show! We had a blast. Thanks to Smokestack for letting us play. Thanks to the light girl! Of course thanks to Churchills and to all the fans. See you in Ann Arbor.

View from the Bassment - Monroe Street Fundraiser 03/04/06

What a blast! There was so much fun to be had this Saturday! If you didnt make it, you really missed out. If you did make it you know what I am talking about!

The Monroe Street Fair Fundraiser was a success! All around, uptown, downtown, and in between, fun was had by all, and we raised some dough for a good cause.

The evening started with the return of Jam Samich to Churchills. You may recall we played with these crazy cats last year. Well they were back on Saturday. What a show! These guys played everthing from straight blues to Johnny Cash, from Particle-esque space porn to funk and rock. I was whopped up and had a great time dancing, as did the rest of the bar! If you get a chance check thes guys out, they are awesome! We have a link on our site, or check them out on myspace. I really look forward to playing more shows with these guys. We will keep you posted as things develop.

Then there was Glowb, and it was good. Glowb came on just after 11:00. They hit the ground running. They improved thru 45 minutes of funk, space, groove, and more. It was a great show. The guys played everything, but nothing that I had heard before. Their fill in bassist was great, and those guys made the best of a hard situation. I loved it, and I hope we get to share the stage with these guys again. A big thanks to Kotar for helping make this happen.

Ground Score hit the stage a little after 12PM. We had an open jam to get rolling and to get warmed up. From there we jumped into Rezin Tokes, always a crowd and band favorite. Grahm and Rob pounded their drums into submission and we all danced and enjoyed the great sound. From there we launched into Along the Way, solid as usual. This was followed by our latest tune called Dictate the Mood. It went really well for it's first time out and I wouldnt be surprised if it shows up at the next few gigs. From Dictate we jumped into Myself, Psuedo Suicide and our psychedelic jam Phuzzie. After a brief reprieve for the raffle (interrupted the flow but it was a benefit...) We launched into a couple of covers, Bug and Sample in a Jar by Phish. From there we did Lunch Lady Land, Happy Hour Hero, Piper, and others... Bye then the alcohol and other fun started to make things a little hazy. I am sure managment will step in and make any necessary corrections. The crowd danced and sang, the band played and sang, so happiness was achieved.

Thank you to Tim and the rest of the Churchills Staff! Thanks to Jam Samich and all their crew for putting on a great show. Thanks to Glowb, Kotar, and all their peep's for jamming with us. Thanks to my fellow bandmates for also putting on a great performance. Thanks to Steve and Charlie for making this show happen. Thanks to everyone else who helped with the show. And finally thanks to everyone who showed up, danced, drank and was merry!

Hope all of you can make it to the show on March 18th at Churchills. We are opening for Smokestack! They are great. We will be playing at 10 for an hour and half. Smokestack will close the show. Well worth the price of admission. Also dont miss the April 1st gig in Ann Arbor, that's what the fundraiser was all about!!!!!!! Check the website for more details  www.monroestreetfair.com.  Looking forward to a great 2006 in the life of the band we call Ground Score!

View from the Bassment - New Years Show!

Happy New Year to all and to all a good 2006.

Ground Score had a great time playing the Oakhill Studio for the New Year. There was lots of good laughs, good times, and good people. It was also a night of debut's.

First of all it was a debut for "opidious" our new live CD. This CD is a compilation of live material from this fall at Churchills. This CD has originals that have been previously released and originals previously unreleased. Opidious also has 4 covers includling Lunch Lady Land and Piper. All these songs will be available for download in next few days at our website, www.groundscoreband.com.

It was also the debut for our friend Victor Scott's band. He played for songs including covers of Burn One Down and Elevator by Particle. We are very excited to see where this 5 piece goes from here!

Ground Score played a short set before New Years, and a long set after New Years. The songs were fun, the people were fun, and the 2006 was started right. It was a private party so I am not going to share much more than it was a great time.

We are on a creative retreat for January, but I hear rumblings of shows starting in March and April. Thanks to all the special fans and friends that attended this show. We will see you in a couple of weeks!

View from the Bassment - Post Thanksgiving Day Show

The snow began an ominous treck thru the Flint area around 6PM. What was supposed to be flurries soon became a few inches. In a cozy bar known as Churchill's musical mayhem was about to persevere.

Of course the snow was pretty but hard for travel, and the holidays had taken their casualties, but there were still the hardcore music lovers out ready to take in the joy and give back the energy that is the rising tidal wave called Ground Score.

At 10:30 a man named Chad Fisher stepped to the stage. A one man acoustic jam of Comedy, Funk, Sadness and flowing Guitar Skill performed an excellent show. He did covers, he did originals, and delighted us all with his magical guitar playing, heartfelt singing, and overall fun. He was joined by Melissa Dugan for an amazing version of Angel from Montgomery. All in all it was an hour of music not to be missed. Chad has an open invitation to play with Ground Score anytime, and we hope that door swings both ways as we would happily open for him too. Check out his link on our web site as well as Chad's band the Electric Porcupine Dance Band. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

At 11:30ish Ground Score played. The energy was intense and the band was focused on fun. New Era led the charge and the night was increasingly fun as each song came out. Ground Score played all the songs they love and have the most fun with. The crowd received this energy gladly and gave it back to the band in dancing and cheering and fun. There was no break. The band played for two hours and some change. Highlights included Ether Sunday, Farmhouse/Faker Jam, the Churchill's Jam and Fuzzy. The Churchill's Jam was awesome, Chad joined the band with his harmonica playing, and our friend Jake Joined Graham on percussion, it was sweet. The night ended with 2001 at around 2:30.

Ground Score really had a great time and appreciate all of you who came out and partied your butts off. Thanks to Tim again. Thanks to Dave and Steve for helping the show run. Thanks to Chris and Mason for helping set up and tear down. Thanks to Guy and Amy for helping tear down and load up. Thanks to Grahm for playing thru in a time of queasy delirium. And "the most dedicated band member in spite of illness" award for 2005 goes toooooooo (drum roll here)...... GRAHM DEPOUW!!!!!!!!

This was the last show for this year. The band has lots of plans for this winter. There is rumor of a late night New Years Jam, details forth coming. The band is probably going to hibernate and incubate new material for a few months. We plan on coming back strong in 2006. Ground Score loves all of you and thanks you for your support. The band looks forward to new adventures in the coming year. See you on the Flip Side!

View from the Bassment - 11/05/05 JENTIM Party

What a party!!!!

I can not stress enough what a great time we had on our latest visit to Churchill's. The food was great, the drinks were flowing, and the music was excellent.

The night started for Ground Score early. We wanted to help Jen and Tim celebrate in style! So we drank, and socialized, ate and listened to Ros Paka Lolo lay down their Sublime-esque jams.

Around 11 ish Ground Score hit the stage after a very excited Tim introduced us to the crowd. We started off with the ever evolving Churchill's Jam in G, we keep taking this jam and exploring it on stage live, it is turning it to a fun little # for all. From there we embarked on an awesome hour long set that included Happy Hour Hero, The Rant, Rezin Tokes, a bar sing-a-long of Happy Birthday (awesome job everybody) and a killer version of Fuzzy.

We took a quick brake and then jumped into another set. The highlight was our new cover Black JUJU by Alice Cooper, our musical birthday present to Tim, and the kicken version of Piper. I also thought Myself and Freedom were over the top jams.

A set list should follow later this week...

Thanks go out to Morty, Dave, Guy, Mason, Greg, and Shelly. Also a big thanks to Tim for having us out for his B-day. Finally a big thanks to all the Ground Crew who came out to support us, we love you all!

It was a great night, full of fun and joy for all. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 25th. Come work off some of that Thanksgiving food with a little drink and a lot of dancing Friday the 25th of November, at where???? Churchill's in Flint, of course.

See you there!

THE FLINT JOURNAL: EDGE
Sunday, October 30, 2005
By Chad Swiatecki
cswiatecki@flintjournal.com 810.766.6237

PERSONNEL: Tom Lienhardt (lead guitar, lead vocals); Robert Grunwald (drums, backup vocals); Grahm DePouw (percussion, backup vocals), and Johnathan Dugan (bass, second lead vocals); Mike Katchmark (keyboards, backup vocals)

HOME BASE: Holly

SOUNDS LIKE: Intense improvisational rock that calls to mind the creativity of Particle, Moe., Phish and Pink Floyd without falling under the sometimes limiting "jam band" umbrella.

ON DOOM AND GLOOM: "I'm really tired of all the negative music that's become popular these days, with bands like Nickelback it seems like something has to be wrong in their lives for them to write a song," Lienhardt said. "That just invites negativity. Music is supposed to be entertaining and I'd rather have my shows feel like a party instead of a funeral."

ON THAT SPECIAL SOUND: Keyboardist Katchmark was almost completely paralyzed in an accident 20 years ago and has limited use of his hands. One-hand chords for any other player require him to use both hands and lead to a lot of singular notes that stand out in the band's compositions, especially on the song "Manual." "We get that sound because Michael can't use his fingers and has to kind of chop at the keys," Lienhardt said. "It makes him a different kind of musician, and people are always amazed to see him play the way he does."

ON LIVE RELEASES: "Fifty percent of what we do is improvised on the spot, and it's hard to get that feeling from a studio record," Lienhardt said. "That's why after our first demo, we've only put out live albums. When I first got turned on to Phish, that was when I first realized the the live experience could be 20 times as amazing as any record you hear, and I've been stuck on that live sound ever since. You either fall on your face or you nail it, and I love that risk."

FOR YOUR EARS: "Bootleg" (a demo recording that became the band's unofficial debut), along with a pair of live records, all available at their shows or Web site.

LOVE YOU LIVE: The band plays Nov. 5 at Churchill's in Flint.

The first night of the Short Stint Tour was great fun. We worked hard, played hard, and I am sure slept hard afterwards.

Jam Samich started off the night. They were great, full of funky Jams and fun covers. We really enjoyed their show and hope to play with them again soon.

Ground Score took the stage around 11:30. We proceeded on a hour and half sonic journey. Some new covers, lots of originals filled this set. The final songs in the set were the best - Farmouse into No Woman No Cry Interlude into Faker into the Churchills Jam in G was awesome. We wrapped it up with a speedy 2001 and took a break.

The second set was shorter but still a lot of fun. This set included some killer jams of Mr. Fantasy, and more originals. We ended witha crowd requested Psuedo Suicide, and finally an epic version of Piper.

All in all we played most of our originals. A lot of new covers and had a great time.

Thanks to all who came out to support us. Thanks to Jam Samich, lets do that again sometime. Thanks to Steve, Dave, Chris, and Shelly for helping this thing move along. Thanks to Tim and Churchills for letting us play.

Dont Miss Nov. 5th, the JENTIM party is coming!

Saturdays in August are always fun and this past Saturday was no exception. The moon was out, people were out prowling the town in their classic cars or with their tops down and spirits up basking in the end of summer. On top of it all Ground Score was out to make some musical mischief, boy did we get in trouble.

Create Evolve started the night. They were on their fourth show in 2 days... They still managed to jam out for us in epic style. Their originals were killer, solo's impressive, chemistry was awesome, and 7 below phish cover was exquisite. We enjoyed it, the early crowd enjoyed it, and we look forward to jamming with these guys again soon!

Then it was Ground Score's turn to hit the stage. The night started with Fuzzy. This was definitely the wildest version we have performed live to date. Tom's constantly evolving guitar work pushes this song to new heights every time. Other highlights included the Antig > 5 2 1 > Sand > New Era block, this was incredibly tasty. Rezin Tokes to end for this first set was high energy and full of band and crowd enthusiasm.

The second set was also high energy and full of fun and mayhem. We started with a jam we dubbed Churchill's in G. The jam started with Tom, Grahm and Johnathan (me) while we located the rest of the band. Soon everyone was in. This jam became a tidal wave smashing on the rocks of the bars eardrums over and over. The builds and changes were excellent, very enjoyable and a great way to set the tone for the last set. We jumped into Myself which sent us reeling in another direction, off again into the percussive jam. The whole set was great and full of improve that left us short on time.

At the end of our second set we stopped. Tim was kind enough to insist on another tune so we did a final encore of Buenos Tar des (Ween) into our new jam Ode to Omp (S.P.C.).

It was a great night. We will be back. Thanks to the fans for coming out and dancing your butt's off. Thanks to Churchill's and Tim for providing a great place to play. Thanks to Create Evolve for coming out, we hope to see you again soon. Thanks to the rest of the band, Steve, and all of you who showed up and helped keep this train moving ( you know who you are).

View from the Bassment - Churchill's 7/22/05

Let me start of by apologizing for the lateness of this latest offer from the bassment. I couldn't type for a couple of days after this show.. My fingertips are still burning..

Friday 7/22/05 Ground Score took some time off of our focus on recording and went back to Churchill's in Flint to rock out for a little while.

It was just what the band needed. I haven't seen my fellow band mates smile so much while playing at any other show, ever.

This show was our best show too date, in my humble opinion. The energy was off the hook, everyone seemed very comfortable, and the crowd was electric. We played a lot of our own material and a couple of covers. We had more new covers to play for the crowd but all the jams were off the hook, the crowd made a lot of requests (awesome... Play JWL!) and we ran out of time before we ran out of material.

The show kicked off with Ether. We were actually just trying to check the sound, but once you start an Ether Sunday jam it is hard to just stop. From there the boys jumped into a killer double bill of Ween, Buenos Tar des and Roses. The band and the crowd were very pleased. As there was no set list, just some songs on paper and things just took off from there. The rest of the set included incredibly tight versions of Myself and Rezin Tokes as well as the debut of New Era. We also jammed on 2001 (yes we almost gave the drummers heart attacks) and Antig with a lead into Happy Hour Hero.

We took a short break and came back with a hot second set. The crowd and band were bussed and the music was buzzing. The set included kickin versions of Manual, and a psychedelic super extendo jam of Fuzzy. There was a killer version of Freedom and the Rant. If I missed any songs, I apologize, but things started to get a little hazy as there was so much energy going around I got lost in the flow(of beer). We got the signal for one more. We played Pseudo, per the crowds request.. But of course we weren't quite satisfied with only one more (I was ready to keep playing all night long) so we debuted a new song we are calling Ode to Oomp(s.p.c.), a high energy instrumental that we have been working out while recording.

A great time was had by all. A big thank you to Fuze for opening and playing another killer show. A huge thanks to all the fans and all your compliments after the show. Hope you guys enjoy your free t-shirts. A round of applause for Tim and Churchill's for having us out and appreciating what we are trying to do (what are we trying to do?)...

The Ground Score guys love to play here and be pre-warned we may have found our home away from home. Churchill's wants us back regularly and we want to play there regularly, so make your own conclusions from there.

Stay tuned for details for a August 20th date in association with the Flint Creative Alliance. Also stay tuned for details on a show at Churchill's in October.

Thanks again to everyone for your support. We will see you on the flip side!

Recording?

Well , yes, the band is finally going to sit down and start recording their first full length album. This CD will include some re-recorded tracks from Bootleg and a bunch of new tracks, including the song "Myself" that we debuted in a live form this past fall. The guys have been working real hard this past spring and have worked out some of the best sounds I've heard sense the "original" Pink Floyd. I can't wait to get a copy of this album.

The Plan right now is to lay down the core of the recording the first of July and start tweaking it into a final master album. Although we would love to give you an idea of when it will be ready, it is hard to say without having started it yet. Check the web site often as more information is available.

Man, what a kick ass show. A chance to really stretch out, test our boundaries and be free from the constraints of time. The band had a great time. The people had a great time, and that is what it is all about. I hope the we can do more of the same in the future.

There was so much music and fun I wouldn't be able to express it here with out taking up a lot of space. Just know that we were having a great time, and so did everyone else.

I heard rumors that some of it might make it to the website once it has been tweaked. Come out to Churchill's and experience what a chosen few got to enjoy at this show.

Cant wait to see you all there!

View from the Bassment - TC's Speakeasy 4/2/05

I awoke this morning with sore fingers, sore arms, and a hazy feel in the brain that comes from leaving it all out there for the pure fun of it.

Last night Rob & Grahm were manic rhythm machines pushing the rest of us further thru envelope. Catching onto this mass energy wave coming from the rhythm section, the rest of us shaped the groove into fabulous shapes we didn't even know to expect. The crowd was enjoying themselves, and we had a great time sharing the music that we love playing.

We set things off with Fuzzy, it was the best live version we have done to date in my opinion. From there we jumped into The Rant. Rob's vocals were of the hook and Mike was layin down key board licks like Holefield in his prime. Pseudo was pinnacle as usual. After that we played Rezin Tokes & Rolled Cigarettes. The drum jam at the end of the song were fire works for the brain. We then played Myself with an impressive jam at the end that rolled into Manual, which wasn't on the set list, but who's really looking at that thing anyway. We followed up with an energetic Carini with a killer sounds cape in the middle. Mike lead the charge with his progressive builds, then we all peaked and jumped into some funky kick en musical insanity. We finished the set with Sand into Happy Hour Hero. Toms solo on Happy Hour Hero is just killer and a definite highlight for the night.

We got to play an encore set so we did a romping, rolling, rollicking version of Antiginising. We rolled that into an exquisite jam of 5 2 1. With that we had 3 minutes to kill so we rolled from 5 2 1 over to Hand of doom for a quick couple of verses and ended things for the night.

We had a great time and thank the bar for having us and the people for coming out and listening to us. We again thank Charlie for giving us this opportunity. We also thank all the support from Dave, Mason, and Jake for helping us unload, set up and reload.

Cant wait to see some of you for the private show!

View From the Bassment - Roche Bar 3/18/05

What a show! Everyone in the band had a great time and everyone in the bar had a great time, and that is how it should be!

A big thank you to Joe, Turbo and the rest of the Roche crew. Also thanks to Charlie from the Monroe Street Fair for asking us to play and helping us with the show. We also want to thank Troubleman and The Smoldering Giants for playing great sets and being fun to gig with. But mostly we thank all those peeps, Dave, Victor, Purt 1, Missy M, Tony & Cheryl, and the rest of you who trekked out to Port Huron to see us play. Also thanks to the new fans who signed our email list or took CD's for their collection.

We followed Troubleman on to the set around 11:15 ish. We started the set with a new cover we are doing by Black Sabbath called Hand of Doom, we jammed this into 5-2-1 by the Doors. This was followed by an improvised jam we dubbed the Roche jam. We ended this run with a follow up of Hand of Doom. These songs flowed seamlessly together and were a great way to get the musicians and the crowd into the mood of what we were trying to do. It sounded great, and gave us a enough time to sort out a couple of bugs in the system (sorry Mike...). We followed that up with a very hippy, hoppy Ether Sunday. Music Mike set the tone with his killer solo's and his keys held it all together for us. We jammed out the ending with a couple of extra's including some Beasty Boys and a verse or two of the Humpty Dance. By then everyone in the band and the crowd was primed for a good time. We then went off with a new original dubbed Rezin Tokes & Rolled Cigarettes, the song was well received. Mad props to Rob and Graham for sending the Jam at the end of the song into the stratosphere, rippen fellah's, rippen for sure! We were jamming along and decided to improve into Manual. The jam for Manual was killer and free form, lots of cool effects. T-bone Tommy did a great job keeping the guitar licks coming and the atmosphere humming. Since we are musical masochists we jammed from Manual into Carini (Phish). Carini was killer, fast, furious and tight. The jam was a sonic sounds cape that we haven't ever been able to reproduce live and thus very satisfying. With that we decided to play Antiginising. It was great fun and we managed to fall right into Happy Hour Hero with out too much of a hiccup. Happy Hour Hero was definitely well received by the bar and staff. Finally we finished the set with Along the Way. We jammed the outcrop till our fingers and arms couldn't take it anymore! What a gig.. Everyone was right on top of their game and everyone had a great time, especially yours truly JD the bass man.

We cant wait to get out to TC's in just a couple of weeks. More details to come. Stay tuned!

Private Show

Well our contest has been declared success! We had a great response and are happy to announce the date and the details of our private show.

The private show is on April 16, 2005 at Oakhill Studios. All those who emailed or received personal invites from the band are welcome to attend. The doors will open around 7:00PM. The band will be playing a couple of sets going well into the night. DJ MARV will be spinning before, between and after the Ground Score sets for the private party as well. We recommend you bring your own drinks, snacks or whatever. We also recommend that you bring a small camping chair if you don't want to sit on the floor, as chairs and space are limited.

This is going to be a very intimate show, small crowd, lots of music and its free! We also plan on recording and releasing this show on the internet so bring your clapping hands and your hoots and hollers along too.

If you have any questions or need directions please email us at groundscore@groundscoreband.com.

If you cant make the show we have at least 4 other shows coming up through the end of May with a couple more yet to be confirmed. Check the website for more details. We look forward to seeing all of you and making more friend's over the next few months.

Dreads Are Dead!

Well, we tried to convince Grahm to let us do a Grahm's Dread's page but he didn't go for it. Although it would have been fun and was really just a joke, it could have been more. That's OK Grahm, we understand.

Full Length Album!

As you may or may not know the band took a trip to New Era MI on January 20 through the 23rd. The band played and wrote all weekend. The songs that came out of that weekend will go toward our upcoming CD. We are currently working on this new material for the CD and future live shows...

"So what now?" you ask.

Well the band is taking a little break to try and get a head start on a full length CD. This CD will include some re-recorded tracks from Bootleg and a bunch of new tracks, including the song "Myself" that we debuted in a live form this past fall. The plan right now is to get the songs polished up and ready to Start recording soon. We are hoping to give a few sneak peaks of some of the new songs we are working on via our web site. So keep checking the web site for new info and new mp3's.

Song Reviews

Manual
Wow 11 and a half mins !! A sublime mixture of string and guitars with some real tight percussion takes us on a journey that keeps you listening through to the end. The lines are progressively played out so that the song never stays stuck at one level. The strings give a great ambience and the guitar work is well performed once again. This band has a unique style and know exactly what they are doing, Great stuff and once again HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

70's Style Jam!(Manual)
This is a very 70's style jam track! They did a lot of this kind of stuff. And used a lot of Echo and Delay effects back then. Groups like The Floyd, The Doors, Hendrix, Chambers Brothers and many others. This style is so OLD, it's NEW again!!! lol The guitarist is amazing with his effects and the strings, bass and drums just keep on jamming on. This is like some kind of Acid or Extasy trip. It manages to keep your attention through the whole song. A 70's style track in the year 2005!!!

If Robert Johnson was at the crossroads today, this is what he'd be doing. Intelligent and thoughtful. Shit happens....so write a song about it. Good stuff

Powerful, Chill, Blues
I like the almost spoken lyrics mixed with bluesy guitar and piano. This song creates a dark mood, but tells it like it is. nice stuff.

View from the Bassment: The Emergenza Festival

First off let me start by saying thank you to everyone who came out on a Sunday night to support us in this "Battle of the Bands." Thank you to Fred and Emergenza for the opportunity to play. Thanks to Alvin's for a great place to play and promote our music.

The Emergenza gig was a great show. We got a lot of support and everyone in the band was lost in the music we were creating. The opening jam was the new song "Myself." Mike opened this song up with high energy right out of the gate. The build as the rest of us joined was great. Grahm and Rob were out of their minds with the beats and pulses that they created. Tom did well, but do to time constraints, I don't think he was fully able to pull the passion out through his guitar.

Myself faded out into a killer psychedelic interlude that was cut short by a communication snafu. Pseudo was great, everyone in the bar and the band really enjoyed the energy and overall sound of the tune. We then took a pause, talked to the crowd, and jumped into Along the Way. The extended jam at the end was killer and way fun.

Somehow thru the awesome version of this song we created a time warp that allowed us to play one more song than expected. So we blasted a free form version of 2001. Overall it was a high energy, very tightly performed show.

Unfortunately we did not make the cut (6 votes short). We were good, but do to our time slot we got less votes than others who were on later when the bar had filled up. Thank you again to all those who supported our work and voted for us, we appreciate it.

We will try again next year!

View from the Bassment: The Blind Pig

WHAT A SHOW!

The Blind Pig show was by far the best gig of Ground Score's fall tour. The sound was great on and off stage. The patrons were live and lovin what we were doing. Mark, the guy running sound, summed it up best when he hopped up on stage after the show and said, "NICE," and shook my hand. The only complaint I heard was that the set was not long enough. Next time, my brothers and sisters, that Ground Score comes to the Pig (and there will be a next time) we will play a longer set for sure.

Ground Score started the show with a raucous version of Along the Way. They proceeded to jump into a killer version of Myself with a Fuzzy ending that was very sweet. The boys followed that with a great version of Happy Hour Hero. They ended with a 10 minute sweeping run of 2001 that drove the crowd into a booty shaken frenzy. At this point the band was really just getting started when it all had to came to an end. The band definitely enjoyed the venue, and the people at the venue definitely enjoyed Ground Score.

Grahm did a great job and performed through the whole set instead of just two songs. Tom was a guitar mad scientist, and Rob was the ever steady backbone. Mikes keys provided the twinkle for this band's star, and John was once again the glue to hold the sonic insanity together.

Big thanks Mark and Jason at The Blind Pig. Thanks to Steve, Bri, Russ, Purt1, Aaron, Vic, Mason, Shelly, BK, Burrito and the rest of Grahm's Crew, Spooney, Big Dave, Laura, John & Co(French Laundry), and any other Ground Score support that I may have missed. We appreciate all your support so very much, it is part of what makes us, and then we inturn try to make you (circular, the ride goes up and down, round and round). Also a shout out goes to veRB, Dark Town Saints, and The Order, it was a pleasure to share the stage with you.

To all who came to support us, again thank you! To all the Ground Score Newbies, welcome aboard and stay tuned to the website as Ground Score continues to put out more music and arrange more gigs for you to enjoy. See you all at Alvins on 01/09/05 and dont forget to contact the band for you discount tickets!

Ground Score Add's a New Band Member, Grahm DePouw

We are very excited to announce a new addition to the band.

Grahm DePouw will be joining the band and playing percussion and other for us. Grahm has been practicing with the band for a couple of months.

Last night Ground Score officially invited him to join the band, and Grahm officially accepted. Grahm played Myself, and Psuedo Suicide with us at the Token Lounge. He will be playing at the Blind Pig. Grahm will be making his official full set debut at the Emergenza Show on the 9th of January at Alvins in Detroit ($10 tickets available through the band, $15 at the the door).

We are very excited to bring him aboard and know that you will all enjoy the additional vibe and energy he brings to the mix as much as we do.

View from the Bassment: The Token Lounge

Let me start by saying this was a good show.
Ground Score was out there doing great music and a the crowd was way into it. There was a couple of snafu's with the club: Promised set length, not being able to hear each other or anything else on stage, vocals offstage, equipment problems, oh and a little thing called payment... But Ground Score passed the test with flying colors and did what they came to do, play good music and get the word out regarding who we are and what we are all about.
My personal highlight was the unveiling of Myself, a new song that will be on our next EP do to be out late this spring. And of course Psuedo was a crowd favorite.
The other highlight was our guest percussionist, Grahm Depouw. He did incredibly well for not knowing he was going to play, and we are hoping he may be a new permanent addition to the band. Stay tuned for more details.
Thanks go out to Melissa, Amy, Bri, Joy & co, Kevin, Burrito, BK and the rest of the posse, Kimmy & Co, Marv, Kaz, Mason, Spooney, Dave, Morty, we love you guys and really appreciate all the support. Thanks also to all the newbies who signed up for our newsletter and grabbed a free CD.
We are definitely looking forward to the Blind Pig gig on the 30th, hope to see everyone there.
Let me end by saying this gig wasnt great, we will probably not be back to this club but it was a good expierence and proves how far we have come as a band. So to all who there know that if you liked what you saw at the Token, be prepared to be blown away at many of our future gigs!

View from the Bassment: The Oakhill Halloween Bash

Thanks goes out to everyone who came out to play on Devils Night! The annual Oakhill Halloween Bash was a success.

The Seeker opened up and set everything up beautifully. Darryl, Joe and Laura all did an excellent job and had the crowd eating out of their hands by the end of their set.

Well Seeker set them up, and we (Ground Score) knocked them down. Both the band and the crowd were combustible. Highlights included Psuedo, Manual, and Fuzzy, but the overall set was impeccable. Rob was off the hook, I thought his drum set was going to catch on fire. Mike was smiling laughing and kicking out key solos like he was the flint strike sparking sonic heaven. Tom kicked out the jams for sure with his guitar and singing whipping the wind that kept the crowd alight. Alls I can say for myself is that my view from the bassment looked like crowd and band forming into one large inferno...It was awesome boys.
Morty had the sound board rocking and Big Dave was right on cue with the lights. All in all I would say this has been our best show ever. We cant wait to try and top it soon!
Thanks to Grahm and his crew (BK, Burrito, Jake, Kevin, William, Charity, and anyone else I might have forgot) for coming out. Also a big thanks go out to Guy, Amy, The Magster, Purt2, Spoony, Missy M, Teigan, Laura, Bri, Joy, and the rest of you ghouls, ghosts, and goblins that helped us help you, help us all have a hell of a good time (as promised.) You guys & gals were awesome, we appreciate all the love and requests. We look forward to playing for you again ( at the Token Nov.20th, mark your calendars).

Fuse followed up with an incredibly tight set, even though they were missing a player. These guys are impressive. There is a rumor that the fellas might join us for a gig at the Old Miami this spring, so keep your ears and eyes posted for more news.

And finally the Smoldering Giants. You guys kicked my ass. What a way to end the night, the musical fireworks are still going off in my head. Hope to jam with you guys again soon.

Finally a Huge thanks is owed to Mike for throwing this annual party, and providing a place for all of us to play. You are the bomb my friend, the f-bomb!

All in all it was a great set, It was great fun and we cant wait to see you all on the 20th at the Token Lounge.

Check back soon for some pictures!

Review from the bassment: Hayloft Liquor Stand

The sound was incredible. Ground Score took the stage first and managed to rumble right into the sonic bombast without even too much warm up time. The sound man was awesome (watch out Steve!). He took us too musical nirvana. Highlights included Along the Way and Manual, and of course 2001 and Pseudo Suicide were par excellence.

Please come back often and check out the  SHOWS  section for dates and times of our gigs. Thanks for taking the time to check us out and we can't wait to play for everyone again.
